Rectangular vessel identified as an ablutions font originally from the Medina Azhara, Cordoba, now in the collections of the Museo Arqueológico Nacional, Madrid. The museum label notes ornamentation on three of the sides related to symbolism of power, wealth and eternity, as well as an inscription in Kufic characters which names the sponsor "Almanzor Abi Amir Muhammad ben Abi Amir" and the Hegira date of 377 [987-988 A.D.] It is a beautiful object, not unlike some of the early Spanish baptimal fonts in overall shape [cf. for instance the early font at Leon No. 2]
