Like the fonts (?) listed in this Index for Madrid No. 2 and No. 5, this object may be from the Visigothic period, and may -or may not- have had a baptism-related function. It appears to have been originally a capital, and perhaps hollowed out to serve as holy-water stoup; one of the surviving corners of the capital appears decorated with an owl, the rest covered with foliage or plant motif some of which are inscribed in round arches.
