Font Notes:
Described and illustrated in Palol (1967) in comparison to the Visigothic font from Satisteban del Puerto [cf. Index entry for Madrid No. 2], with which it shares the decoration with fish symbols on the bottom of the inner well [NB: four fish in Martos, whereas Santisteban del Puerto has only two] Like the font (?) listed in this Index for Madrid No. 2, this object is a shallow rectangular vessel, probably of the Visigothic period, that may -or may not- have had a baptism-related function. Like the aforementioned object, this one has an arrangement of fishes in the rectangular basin well, in this case four fish in left and right-facing alternate arrangement. [NB: Martos, originally 'Tucci', was an episcopal see in Visigothic times]. Noted in Castillo Maldonado (2006).
