There are two entries for this Cantley [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SE6202/cantley/] [accessed 15 October 2018], one of which reports a cleric and a cleric and a church in it. There is no font mentioned in Glynne's notes of his visit to this church 28 January 1873. Noted in Morris (1932): "Plain octagonal font." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SE6185001439] notes: "Church. Early C13, C14, C15 tower, restoration 1874 by G G Scott, north aisle added and restoration by Sir Ninian Comper 1892-4. [...] Unpainted Comper font cover to C14 stone font with large column stem and octagonal bowl." Harman & Pevsner (2017) mention a 1904 cover but not the font itself.
