There is an entry for [High] Melton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SE5001/high-melton/] [accessed 9 November 2018] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. Armitage (1905) reports the blocked North door, "at the side of which is the niche for a holy water stoup." Noted in Morris (1932): "Stoup inside blocked N. door." [cf. Index entry for High Melton No. 1 for a baptismal font of the same period in this church]
