A font here is noted in Glynne's 10 May 1862 visit to this church (in Butler, 2007): "The font bears the date 1663, inscribed with names of churchwardens; has a fine lofty canopy of wood carving, but white-washed." Morris (1932) notes it as a font of the Restoration period dated by an inscription to 1663; "This has a fine old canopy, tha panels of which are said to be contemporary." Mee (1941) writes: "The font and its tall cover are 17th century". Pevsner (1986 c1967) writes: "Font. Octagonal, of cup shape, 1663, with the typical frieze of small semicircles (cf. Birkin)." Ryder (1993) mentions "a '1663' font" in this church. There are two covers on this font; one is the old one that is tall and octagonal, with openwork and scroll ribs at the top converging on a ball finial; it is suspended above the font by a counterweight mechanism; the other font cover is octagonal and almost flat, with ring handle.
