There are two entries [one multiple-place] for Yafforth [variant spellings] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SE3494/yafforth/] [accessed 18 November 2019] neither of which mentions cleric or church in it. The entry for the parish of Danby Wiske in the Victoria County History (York North Riding, vol. 1, 1914) notes: "The church of ALL SAINTS OF YAFFORTH was almost entirely rebuilt in 1870 in 13th-century style [...] Near the porch outside the church is an octagonal font on a long octagonal stem inscribed 'et: st: ml 1663.'" Pevsner (1985): "Font. 1663. Smaller than the group of 1662, but of exactly the same type, i.e., with initials, date amd elementary geometric patterns." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SE3443494489] notes; "Church. Virtually rebuilt in 1870 by J P Pritchett with a Norman window on the west side of the tower. [...] octagonal font dated 1663 with initials and geometrical patterns."
