No entry found in the Domesday survey. English Heritage [Listing NGR: NY6380425945] (1968) notes: "Parish Church, C12 with later additions and alterations. [...] Moulded octagonal font was set up in 1688 by Thomas Machell, the rector, whose coat of arms is carved on one side." A font here is noted in Pevsner (1967): "Font. 1688. Plain octagonal bowl with a coat of arms. Shorter baluster stem."
