Glynne wrote at the time of his visit to this church, probably in 1827 (in Butler, 2007) : "The font is an octagon, panelled with shields". Glynne later added a footnote to his entry recording the demolition of this church "in 1838 and rebuilt in a splendid style". It is not clear what happened to that (perhaps Perpendicular) font. Only the Victorian font is noted in Jenkins (2000) as "a fine marble font by Butterfield."
