Phil Draper's ChruchCrawler web site [members.aol.com/draperpm/stjude.htm] records the state of the nave of St Jude's in early 1999: the baptismal font "lay in three pieces at the foot of the west gallery" [NB: St Jude, a Victorian church of the mid-1800s was declared redundant and its interior had suffered greatly; it was later sold at auction, ca. 2003]. The font consisted of an octagonal basin decorated with cross-shaped quatrefoils, raised on a central shaft and four outer colonnettes, all round, with moulded capitals and bases, all of it on a round lower base.
