Scene Description: presumably St Michael the Archangel, patron saint of this church, but the beast is definitely a lion -lovely rendered tail- that seems to be giving the sword-wielding angel a good fight

Described in the Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla y León (2002- ), which points the possibility that the four spur-like motifs at the lower base may have attempted a representation of the Tetramorphos: a human face, a lion protome [NB: not really], a bird and one other almost completely gone. Baptismal font of simple cauldron style, consisting of a quasi-hemispherical basin with plain sides raised on a round moulded base and a square lower base with a crude head at each angle [NB: there is something odd about these heads: they appear to have been carved later or, perhaps, recarved at a later date]; the font cover is flat and plain, probably modern.
