A large object made of granite in the shape of a baptismal font (?), located in the centre of the cloister of the Colegiata de Santa Maria del Mar; it is a roughly hemispherical basin decorated with deeply-set broad ribs all around, that end at the top in a thin roll moulding; it restst directly on the gound, without a base; it is now used as a cloister fountain and has had several holes made to its side, though now plugged; the position of the large damaged area at the upper rim side, may be an indication of the former presence of cover hardware in place [NB: we have no evidence that this was ever used as a baptismal font]. [cf. Index entry for Santiago de Compostela No. 10, for the baptismal font in this church]
