Noted in Fuenteseca Alvarez and González Gutiérrez (1998) as one of several Cistercian (?) abbeys or monasteries with a baptismal font in the church. The entry for this church in the Spanish Wikipedia [https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monasterio_de_Santa_María_(La_Buenafuente_del_Sistal)] [accessed 19 August 2025] mentions the bautismal font of this church: "En el interior, tercer tramo, centrada entre una doble escalinata que salva el desnivel del pie del templo, se encuentra una pila bautismal." The entry for this church in Buenafuente del Sisal [https://buenafuente.org/historia/] [accessed 19 August 2025] mentions that the font was moved to its present location from its earlier position in northwest corner: "muro norte de la iglesia románica, según se accede al templo, a la derecha. Era el lugar donde anteriormente estaba la pila bautismal, que actualmente permanece emplazada junto a las escaleras que dan al manantial de la Buena Fuente."
