The Parish web site [www.stteath.org.uk/histchurch.htm] informs: "The old font which stands on the floor just inside the North Door is [...] Norman [...] This font was found in 1978 in a stream outside Vicarage Farm (which used to be the Vicarage many years ago). Someone had made holes in each side for the water to go in and out and had used it as washing basin." Illustrated in Steve Beazley [http://www.cornwall.netfirms.com/stteath/pages/St%20Teath%20Church%2011th%20Cent%20Font.htm] [accessed 25 November 2009]. [NB: unfortunately SB's low-resolution photograph does not permit to discern the carving on the font -- a 2008 B&W photograph by Michael Tiznadel (?) in FLICKR [http://www.flickr.com/photos/trz74/2448222074/in/photostream/] [accessed 25 November 2009] shows what appears to be a very worn pattern of large floral or foliage motifs on the sides, a lower side moulding, and another moulding on the 'neck' or upper base portion that appears to be part of the same block of stone]
