No individual entry found for this Sutton in the Domesday survey. The entry in English Heritage [Listing NGR: TL0952398728] (1955) notes: "Small church of C12 origin. Restored 1867-8 [...] Possibly C14 font with panelled octagonal bowl with octagonal central shaft surrounded by 8 smaller shafts." Octagonal mounted baptismal font consisting of an octagonal basin of vertical sides decorated with plain rectangular panels, raised on a central shaft and eight outer colonnettes decorated with mouldings; the whole stands on a quadrangular plinth. Octagonal wooden cover, plain and modern, with metal ring-handle and decoration. Not noted in Pevsner. Listed and illustrated in The Digital Atlas of England web site [www.viewbuildings.com].
