Noted in Garzelli (2002). The web site 'Architetture di Toscana: Progetti e Cantieri' [www.regione.toscana.it], in its listing 1997 of the major repairs scheduled for the Chiesa abbaziale Madonna della Salute e S. Niccolao, Parrocchia di Buggiano Castello, lists an early baptismal font inside the church. The entry for this church in Sgranar per Colli [https://sgranarpercolli.it/buggiano-e-la-chiesa-di-santa-maria-della-salute-e-san-niccolao-2/] [accessed 19 August 2025] mentions a former pulpit of 1342, parts of which were re-purposed in 1596 as a baptismal font to replace the original one that had been lost: "in controfacciata si conserva un pregevole fonte battesimale, la cui concessione risale al 1342, realizzato nel 1596 utilizzando parte del pulpito e della transenna marmorea, poiché l’antico fonte era andato perduto."
The entry for this church in the Italian Wikipedia [https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiesa_della_Madonna_della_Salute_e_di_San_Nicolao] [accessed 19 August 2025] mentions and illustrates the baptismal font had been fashioned from marble plates from a former pulpit and other parts that divided the monks' area from the rest of the nave: "Il fonte battesimale è l'opera più antica della chiesa, costruito con lastre marmoree intarsiate (XII secolo–XIII secolo). Le lastre facevano probabilmente parte di un ambone e delle transenne che dividevano la parte dedicata ai monaci da quella per i fedeli." The object is located at the west end of the nave. It is illustrated in detail in a series of digital phographs posted in Wikimedia [https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Madonna_della_Salute_(Borgo_a_Buggiano)_-_Interior] [accessed 19 August 2025]
