In addition to a baptismal font of Mosan style nad Gothic period in this church, some sources mention a fragment of a former, fragment that was built into the corner of an outer church wall. Noted in Zimmermann (1950-1951) Romanische Taufsteine am Niederrhein, Annalen des Historischen vereins fur den Niederrhein, 1954, heft 155-156, p. 484, as a Tournai font: "Im Rheinland ist nur das Bruchstück einer Ecke zu nennen, das in der Kirche zu Elmpt (Erkelenz) eingemauert ist. Dargestellt ist ein Eckkopf, von dem nach beiden Seitenflächen Weinranken ausgehen. Die aus dem Bruchstück wiederherstellbare Grundform des Tisches weist ohne weiteres auf die Scheide-Gruppe, jedoch liegt vielleicht eine Mischform mit der Maas-Gruppe vor, da der Eckkopf, soweit ich sehe, sonst nicht vorkommt." Ghislain (1986) and Drake (2002) correct the former to a Mosan font with square basin. [NB: the fragment reported earlier appear to have been integrated or replaced with a later font here -- cf.
