No entry found for Widecombe in the Domesday survey. Baptismal font consisting of an octagonal basin with vertical sides decorated with trefoil-headed panels; graded underbowl chamfer, raised on an octagonal stem with piping pattern, and octagonal lower base with graded mouldings; plain octagonal plinth. No cover present. The font, made of local granite, appears modern, but may be from the 15th century [NB: the font is not mentioned in Stabb (1908- ), Pevsner (1952) or Hoskins (1954)]
