No entry for this Marston found in the Domesday survey. The Victoria County History (Oxford, vol. 5, 1957) notes: "The first mention of Marston church is in a charter of 1122 [...] The oldest parts of the building [...] appear to date from the time of Henry II [1154-1189] or Richard I [1189-1199]"; there is no mention of a font in the VCH entry for this parish, but the VCH plan of the church interior shows a font located by the westermost pillar of the south aisle arcade. The present baptismal font is of the Perpendicular period/style; the font consists of an octagonal basin with vertical sides, the panels decorated with tracery based on quatrefoil motifs, a slightly protruding graded chamfer, raised on a stem and lower base decorated with mouldings; font cover [modern?]. [NB: the church goes back to the Norman period, but we have no information on the earlier font of this church]
