Font Notes:
Noted in Pevsner (1971): "The font is a short C13 column, the base typical of the date. The bowl is later, C14 or C15." Richards (1973) writes: "The font, octagonal in shape with plain sides, is post-Restoration and retains its original bowl cover. It is placed in front of the tower arch, and was returned to the church in 1927, having been temporarily discarded for a marble font given in 1877. The base of the font is obviously much older than the seventeenth century bowl. The wooden cover is very fine Jacobean work, and was rescued from the stable loft little the worse for wear by the late Charles E. Bebbington in 1887."
