There is an entry for Marton [in the Forest] [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SE6068/marton-in-the-forest/] [accessed 3 October 2019]; it reports a church in it. Cox & Harvey (1907) list a baptismal font of the Early English period here. The entry for the Marton with Moxby parish in the Victoria County History (York North Riding, vol. 2, 1923) notes: "The church of Marton was in existence at the time of the Domesday Survey [...] The building is unaltered in general plan from the early 12th century [...] The font has a hemispherical bowl, octagonal shaft and moulded base of the 13th century." Morris (1931) dates the font to the 13th century. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SE6020468249] notes: "Church. Circa 1540 with C12 origins and fragments reused from Marton Priory [...] circular tub font on octagonal column with moulded base and circular plinth". [NB: this 'Marton' goes by many names, usually "Marton in the Forest" or "Marton cum Moxby"]. Pevsner (1985) does not mention a font here.
