Pevsner (1971) notes: "Fonts. One of 1741 (by the lectern). This has a baluster stem and a fluted bowl. -- The other is of 1865 and is ornately High Victorian Gothic, and utterly out of place. Not for the High Victorian the genius loci." Richards (1973) writes: "The font dates from the building of the church [the new church was consecrated on 24 June 1744]. It is of marble and beautifully proportioned, with a pleasing oak cover of modern workmanship. Like many of the older Cheshire fonts, the Knutsford example has been recovered from the garden of a private house." [NB: the church here was originally a chapel-at-ease to Rostherne St. Mary's; we have no information on its earlier font].
