Noted in Sutton (1898): "The font is a very plain octagonal one without any ornamentation". In Pevsner, Harris and Antram (1989): "Plain, octagonal, with C19 suspended cover." F.J. Poulton's web site (2002) [www.poulton.info/familyhistory/marshchapel.htm] [accessed 4 March 2007] informs: "The font is octagon, of stone, it is situated in the west end of the nave between the two entrances from the side doors, it is 2 feet diameter and lined with lead for immersion [...] it is 3 feet 9 inches high and has a wood octagon cover painted white" [NB: the information appears to be quoted from an 1833 source, perhaps John Hy Loft?]
