Pevsner (1968) notes: "Font. From Little Stukeley. Very large and very uncouth. Consequently called Saxon, though more probably C12. No decoration at all." The web site of the Parish Church of St. Andrew [www.standrew-kimbolton.org.uk] informs that: "The font, which had been used as a cattle trough in Little Stukely, [...] stands on a stone plinth [i.e., base] with a central column and four columns supporting the corners. It was erected in the church in 1918. In 2004 the font was moved from the south west corner of the church to the north aisle." The Corpus of Romanesque Sculpture in Britain and Ireland [www.crsbi.ac.uk/ed/hu/kimbo/index.htm] describes this font as "by no means a prepossessing sight", a Romanesque basin made of "shelly limestone" raised on a a five-support base donated by H.A. Hallett and dated from 1918, the date of the restoration of the font into the church after a long stint as cattle trough at Little Stukeley.
