Scene Description: Source caption: "St Swithin's church, Pyworthy. Grade II*listed. There was a church on this site in Saxon times, and there is a list of incumbents from 1262. Much of the present church was dedicated in 1334. The church consists of a western tower, nave with north and south aisles and clerestory, chancel and south porch. The nave and chancel date from the early 14th century, and the tower was added circa 1400. It may once have had a spire. The nave has four bays with octagonal piers. The chancel was extensively restored in the 19th century, and has an early 14th century piscina and sedilia. There is a 19th-century wagon roof, the chancel having carved Angels on the wall plates. The octagonal font is Norman on a 19th century base. There was extensive restoration in 1885, when many of the windows were renewed. There is a two manual organ by W. G. Vowles of Bristol."
