Noted in Stabb (1908): "The font has tablet with coats of arms beneath the bowl." Not mentioned in Pevsner (1952). Described in a Churston web site [http://churstonchurch.tripod.com/html/history.html]: "The Font -- in Beer stone has a 15th century shaft but a bowl probably copied/resculpted in the time of the Bullers [i.e., mid-19th century]. The shields at an angle beneath the bowl include Pennyl, Bozun, Cary, Brian, Daubeney, Ferrers, Matesford and Buller but not Yarde! Buller replaced Yarde! The font cover is Jacobean in origin but, mistakenly, has now been painted gloss red."
