Morris (1932) notes "a Trans[itional] of considerable interest" in this church. Mee (1941) notes: "fine tub font carved in the 12th century with simple leaves and an animal's head". Pevsner (1986 c1967) writes: "Font. Circular, C13, with small corner ornaments, two of them in stiff-leaf." The Kettlewell web site [www.kettlewell.info] states: "The font is all that remains of the original Norman Church. It has a boar's-head carving - the badge of the Nevilles on one corner and the fleur-de-lys, the badge of Mary, on the other three." The baptismal font consists of a tub-shaped basin, cylindrical and plain except for four motifs carved at 90-degree angles on the bottom sides where the block of stone widens and becomes quadrangular with chamfered angles; as indicated in the Kettlewell side above, three of the motifs are floral/foliage, the fourth appears to be an animal head; the basin is raised on a five support base, a broad central shaft and four thinner colonnettes at the angles, all polygonal (they appear to be quadrangular with chamfered angles); the lower base is also quadrangular with the angles and the upper sides chamfered as well. The wooden font cover, flat with metal decoration and handle, is modern.
