Described in Oliver (1840-1842): "The octagon Font bears four shields. -- 1. Ferrers; 2. Yard; 3. Q. Lacy? 4. Argent, a cross gules, St. George." [NB: Oliver (ibid.) informs that, at the request of the locals, a new chapel "in honor of All Saints" was consecrated here on the 19th of April [i.e., 1428] by Bishop Edmund Lacy, which may be the date of the font as well -- Oliver fiurther notes that some of the emblems on the font relate to or are matched with others in other parts of the church]. Noted in Pevsner (1952): "Font. With tracery panels on pillar and bowl; contemporary with the rest" [no mention of the shields].
