Described in Fowler (1874) as "the base of the font on the south side of the west pillar of the north arcade" of the nave. Sutoon (1898) writes: "At the west end of the nave stands the font, rather a plain one, each side having a plain shield, the stem being ornamented with sunk panels." [cf.
