There is an entry for Bradworthy [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SS3214/bradworthy/] [accessed 9 September 2024]; it mentions neither priest nor church in it. Described and illustrated in Stabb (1908): "The font [...], which is probably Norman, has a square top resting on thick central shaft and four smaller shafts at the corners. In Pevsner (1952): "Font. Square, probably Norman, undecorated." The five shafts of the base have mouldings at the top and bottom. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SS3246813981] notes: "Anglican parish church. C13, restored after being struck by lightning and chancel enlarged 1400, tower added c1500, church gutted by fire and restored C18, restored again and reseated in 1840, C19 vestry, church restored and reroofed 1883-4, tower restored 1897 [...] Square Norman font on 5 circular columns [...] C16 Barnstaple tiles in chancel and around font." Listed and illustrated in the CRSBI [https://www.crsbi.ac.uk/view-item?i=3301] [accessed 9 September 2024]: "The font is the only 12thc. feature [...] Located in the NW corner of the nave. On a square plinth supported by one thick central shaft and four further slender shafts at the angles. Each support has a flattened attic-type base followed by a torus (double torus on NE shaft). The underside of the bowl where the shafts join this mirrors the bases. The font is large and square with an angle roll cut into base and rim. Damaged on N and S rims from lid fixings. Unlined. Of grey limestone. Vertical tooling is clearly visible on the bowl and central stem, with heavier tooling on the interior of bowl. There is damage on E and W from fixings and there are various minor repairs to bowl, supports and base. Some traces of white pigment or whitewash are visible."
