According to the City of Sovana tourist office site [www.sovana.com/turismo/duomo_sovana.htm] the baptismal font located in the right arm of the transept dates to 1434 [i.e., 1494], is made of Travertine stone and is ornamented with sacred symbols. The font consists of an octagonal basin with a rounded underbowl, the sides decorated with blank panels; there is an inscription with the date in Roman numerals on the side of the upper rim; octagonal pedestal base with moulded splaying lower base, also octagonal; on a wide octagonal plinth. There is no cover present but there are some drilled holes around the upper rim that may served for the anchoting of an old cover.
