A fragment of a square basin claimed to be medieval lies on the ground in the north-east corner of the church. The fragment still tells of a quadrangular shape externaly, round internaly, but it is too damaged to be judged for age with any certainty; it could even be of the early 18th-century, the date of the present church, although it is most likely left from one of the earlier periods of the church, perhaps the 12th or 13th century. [NB: even now [late 2004] it appears to be used as a receptacle for rubbish and/or debris, sharing thus the sad fate so common among Scottish fonts]
