There is an entry for this Cowley [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SO9614/cowley/] [accessed 29 January 2019] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. Illustration in Daubeny (1921) Noted in Verey & Brooks (1999-2002): "Font. Norman circular bowl with an unusual band of decoration round the top, consisting of a series of triangles each containing two lozenges fastened together near the apex. At the bottom of the bowl four chevrons placed opposite each other. C19 stem and base." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SO9651414651] notes: "Anglican parish church, c1200, C13, C15, restored 1872 [...] C12 circular limestone font with a decorative band with zig-zag motif around its outer margin and traces of an incised triangular decoration to its base which has now been cut away and replaced by a C19 octagonal stone base."
