Disused and abandoned in its churchyard adjoining Llanreithan House, all trace of its mediaeval origins were lost in Victorian restoration (1862). A foundation stone dated 1493 that was discovered during the rebuilding has subsequently vanished too and all that remains from earlier times is a cross-shaped stone set in the altar. Update 2016: the church has been converted into a classy dwelling for the TV programme Restoration Man and is on sale for a substantial sum"

No individual entry found for Llanrheithan in the Domesday survey. The entry for this parish in the RCAHMW (Pembroke, 1925): "The church was rebuilt in 1858 on the earlier foundations; details and fittings are new. The only ancient feature is the font , which is of cushion type and measures externally 21 1/2 inches, and internally 19 inches square. It stands on a circular shaft and square modern base.—Visited, 27th April , 1921." Described in Lloyd, etc. (2001): "C12 font, square tapered to round, the rim scalloped". Thurlby (2006) notes: "At Llanreithan the three plain scallops on the font project in the manner of a trumpet-scallop capital", and lists it in a long "List of scalloped table-top fonts in Pembrokeshire". [NB: a report from Ceridwen, who visited this church on 11 February 2007 notes: "Llanreithan church. Disused and abandoned in its churchyard adjoining Llanreithan House, all trace of its mediaeval origins were lost in Victorian restoration (1862).
