According to Pierre Geny de Glacimont, the baptismal font of the parish church of Raon-lès-Leau had a long séjour at the nearby town of Louvigny. Geny mentions an entry in the archives at the abbaye de Domèvre in which Nicolas Guilleré, curé de Louvigny [Luvigny], attests the receipt of the baptismal font of the ruined church of Raon-lès-Leau from the hands of Jean Mougeon, by authority of M. Henri Charles le Bègue, abbé at Saint-Sauveur & Domèvre. This receipt was signed before three named witnesses on 20 May 1678. A later entry in the same archival source [cf. supra], in the context of the rebuilding of the previously abandoned church of Raon-lès-Leau, records the consecration of a new altar in this church, as well as the return of the baptismal font to Raon-lès-Leau from the church at Luvigny [Louvigny] where it had been for the previous forty-one years, a return carried out in good faith and with the object in a good state of preservation to resume its sacred role ["... ont fait la restitution de bonne foi et le tout mis en bon et souffissant état pour y faire le service divin"].
