M. l'abbé Montel, in his monograph on the village (1925: 13), quotes the record of an inspection of the parish church of Saint-Jean, one of three in the village, made by M. l'abbé Pouméroulie, in the name of the Bishop of Limoges, on 13 July 1731. The record informs that the baptismal font of this church was in good working order, the holy water crystal clear and the holy oils properly kept in two little tin vessels. The baptismal regiistry books were also properly kept. The incumbent at the time was J. Roucoule, who led the parish from 1718 to 1741.
