There is an entry for [West] Tisted [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SU6529/west-tisted/] [accessed 27 July 2017], and it reports a church int it. The Hampshire Antiquary and Naturalist, vol. 1 (1891): 79, reprints an article originally from The Hampshire Independent (31 May 1890) which includes an account of a visit of The Hampshire Field Club to a East Meon and several other churches in its neighbourhood; in one of those churches, the one at West Tisted, "[T]he font was pronounced to be as old as the early part of the building [i.e., Domesday survey or earlier], and in the doorway an ancient stoup was pointed out." The Victoria County History (Hampshire, vol. 3, 1908) notes: "In the face of the east jamb of the south doorway is a recess for holy water, the position being somewhat unusual." The Historic Churches Preservation Trust mentions "an ancient stoup' in this church [source: 'Recent Grants' issue of the Grants Cttee. Meeting of 22 June 2004, www.historicchurches.org.uk] [cf. Index entry for West Tisted No. 1 for a Norman (?) font listed for this church]
