A record of the visitation by André Colbert, Bishop of Auxerre, on Friday 17 August 1685, by Monsigneur Gennet, informs that a baptismal font was noted near the entrance to the church, on the south side ["du costé de l'epstre"]; the font was covered by a lid hinged at the middle and provided with lock and key; inside the font well is a tin basin with a cover, as well as a cup or jug with a salve, both made of copper. [source: http://perso.club-internet.fr/cendrono/colmery_1685_2.htm]. The entry for this church in Wiki58 [https://www.gennievre.net/wiki/index.php?title=Colméry_église] [accessed 16 August 2025] describes the font inside: "fonts baptismaux octogones, du même temps que l'église, portant un écusson à un chevron et un chef chargé d'une croisette potencée, accostée de deux étoiles." An article in Le Parisien [https://www.leparisien.fr/etudiant/sortir/li-eglise-saint-aignan-de-colmery-colmery/] [accessed 16 August 2025] reports changes made to the baptismal font in the late 19th century by the then priest, but does not specify what the changes were: "À la fin du XIXème siècle, le curé Etienne Baudin fait blanchir l’intérieur de l’église, transforme les fonds [sic] baptismaux"
