There is an entry for Fordon [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/TA0475/fordon/] [accessed 17 November 2015], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. This baptismal font shows two very distinct parts: 1)a medieval [12thC?] base consisting of a round-to-square lower base decorated with foliage motif, and a matching plain cylindrical stem, and 2)a roughly hemispherical basin, totally plain, a 19th-century replacement. No font cover present.
