There is an entry for Witchford [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/TL5078/witchford/] [accessed 25 April 2016], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. Kelly's directory of 1929 reports a baptismal font here, possibly Norman [source: www.genuki.org/big/eng/CAM/Witchford/]. The Victoria County History (Cambridge..., vol. 4, 2002) notes: "Between 1219 and 1224 Bishop de Fontibus granted the church to the prior and convent and ordained a vicarage of 5 marks value, [...] Pope Honorius III confirming the grant in the latter year. [...] The tower is of the 13th century arid is the survival of an earlier church. [...] The 14th-century font has a plain octagonal bowl with a round shaft and base." Described with a drawing in the St Andrew's Parish web site [www.ely.anglican.org/parishes/witchf/StAndrews_Witchford_History.html], as a contemporary of the tower, dated 1150 AD. [cf. supra] The font consists of an octagonal basin with plain tapering sides, raised on a cylindrical shaft and a round lower base.
