The Handbook for travellers… (1869) reports a Norman font in this church. Wade & Wade (1929) report "a heavy Norman font" in this church. Described in Pevsner (1958): "Norman, circular, with a kind of coarse spiral fluting.- The cover is plain, polygonal, of Jacobean type, yet dated 1684." The font, probably of the late 11th or early 12th century, is tub-shaped, the sides tapering roundly towards the bottom, and decorated with broad diagonal ribs that end in a roll moulding on the lower basin; below this is a narrow plain gap that ends in another roll moulding with leaf motif at 90-degree angles which match the corners of the square lower base; it is raised on a crude irregular plinth only slightly wider than the lower base; one of the sides of the upper side and rim show evidence of a repair [new inset stone], probably after the removal of the cover hardware. Tall pyramidal wooden cover, round at the very bottom but four-sided otherwise, with knob-like finial; it is inscribed "WS / 1694".
