Font Notes:
No individual entry found for Trelleck in the Domesday survey. The entry for this church in CADW [http://cadwpublic-api.azurewebsites.net/reports/listedbuilding/FullReport?lang=en&id=2106] [accessed 8 February 2020] notes: "With the exception of the south porch the church appears to be of one build, probably of the early C14, and is almost all in a simplified Decorated style [...] The church had a major restoration in 1893, with changes in 1903, and another restoration in 1992 [...] There are two fonts, one free-standing and early medieval, the other recut and later." The Trelleck web site [www.lioninn.co.uk/About_Trelleck] reports the present of a Saxon font in the churchyard to the south of the church. Although an illustration is provided of the site, it may indicate that the term 'font' is here used to indicate 'well', since no other object is visible in the photograph [a well proper, known also as St Anne's Well and known for its healing waters, is identified in this site, but not as the same object as the font]. [cf. BSI entry for Trellech No. 2 for an earlier(?) object listed for this church]
