Kelly's Directory of 1932 notes, besides "the plain circular font, lined with lead" and probably Norman, "another ancient font, supposed to be that used during the plague", which had also been moved into the church. [source: Transcription by Rosemary Lockie © 2004, in www.wishful-thinking.org.uk/genuki/DBY/Eyam/Eyam.html]. Bunting (2001) writes: "Eyam's Saxon font, hewn of local gritstone, was rescued late last century after serving as a garden ornament" [source: transcription of Bunting's article in www.genuki.org.uk] [NB: Bunting mentions also "a later Norman font" at this church -- cf. Index entry for Eaym No. 1 for the Norman font -- to be followed up/completed]
