Allen (1839?) notes: ''The font, which is situated beneath the gallery, is a polygonal basin of marble, not remarkable for ornament; it has an arched cover''. Described in Blatch (1995): "Plain marble octagonal font with baluster stem by Nicholas Stone, master-mason to James I and Charles I. It dates from 1631 but the cover is later. It is enclosed in rails with baluster stems." [NB: the original fabric of the church is medieval, mentioned in the 12th century already, according to Blatch (ibid.), but we have no information on the earlier font(s) of this church]
