Font Notes:
Allen (1839?) notes: "The fon is contained in a pew below the western gallery; it is a plain basin of marble, with cherub's heads, &c, on a pillar of a similar form". Described in Blatch (1995): "Font Made of marble, octagonal and with leaf decoration growing up the upper part of the stem. It also dates from 1681 but the cover is said to have escaped the Great Fire [1666] and therefore to be earlier. The font and its cover were both restored by the St,. Paul's Cathedral workshop in 1988 and have been placed under the bracket in the south-east corner where the font may previously have stood. The bracket may now be used to raise and lower the cover."
