No entry for Birtsmorton found in the Domesday survey. Miller (1890) dates the chancel of the church here to the 13th century; he does not mention a font in it. The Victoria County History (Worcester, vol. 4, 1924) notes: "The advowson of the church, which is mentioned in 1291, [Pope Nicholas' Taxatio] belonged from early times to the lords of the manor. [...] With the exception of the porch, which is a modern timber structure on a stone base, the whole of the [present] building is of 14th-century date, [...] The font is ancient and consists of a circular stone basin chamfered on the under side standing on a circular stem and chamfered plinth, and is probably of late 12th or early 13th-century date." Noted in Brooks & Pevsner (2007): "Plain C12 font, with round bowl and stepped base."
