There is an entry for this Wentworth [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SK3898/wentworth/] [accessed 25 April 2016], but it mewntions neither cleric nor church in it. The Wentworth Village site [www.wentworthvillage.net/oldchurch.shtml] [accessed 16 December 2007] illustrates an old basin with the caption: "Mrs. Ward has [...] provided us with this picture of the font which was formely in the Old Church and now appears to be used as a garden feature." The baptismal font in the new church of the Holy Trinity [the old church of the same dedication still stands] is in the style of the classical Perpendicular font: octagonal basin with short chamfer at the upper rim and vertical sides decorated with quatrefoil motifs; chamfered underbowl on octagonal pedestal base and octagonal-to-square lower base, and square plinth. The smaller details of the basin sides (tiny pattern on the frame panels, mini-rosettes on the lower rim, etc.) as well as the general sharpness of the arrises and general appearance are indicative of a Victorian font in the style of the Perpendicular period.
