Country Name: Spain
Location: Barcelona, Cataluña / Catalunya

Font Location in Church: Inside the church, in a niche of the nave since the 1980s
Century and Period: 16th century
Font Notes:
Baptismal font dated localy to the 16th century. It appears monolithic and cylindrical with several levels of mouldings, and ends down in a square lower base on which there are leaf motifs at the four corners; strange-looking dome-shaped metal cover; modern. The current [2004] priest informs that the font was located for two hundred years outside the church, upturned, serving as the base for a crucifix; at the time of the restoration of this church in the 1980s, it was brought inside the church and restored to its original function; the same priest suggested a 16th-century dating for the object. [We are grateful to Montserrat Estela, of Barcelona, Spain, for the information on and photographs of this font]
