Noted in Glynne's 23 October 1867 visit to this church (in Butler, 2007): "The font is large; the bowl octagonal and plain, rised on steps." Noted in Morris (1932): "Plain, octagonal font, probably contemporary with the body of the church" [i.e. Decorated period, 1250-1350]. Mee (1941) writes: "The massive font is over 600 years old." Baptismal font of rather crude manufacture; it appears monolithic, octagonal in shape with vertical sides; the chamfer is tall and tapers in such a way that it serves practically as base; the whole is raised on a two-step octagonal plinth. It is totally plain and looks like it has had a rough life with obvious damage to the upper rim, some of it repaired.
