Baptismal font of the Perpendicular period; the basin is octagonal with straight sides that are decorated with a variety of deeply-carved motifs: shield bearing a coat of arms, tracery, etc. Plain font cover, probably modern. The present [ca. 2001] location of the font at the NE corner, by the left side of the chancel church and the pulpit, is probably not the original. [cf. Index entry for Halifax St. John's for another font and magnificent early cover of this period in the same area] [We are grateful to Colin Hinson, of www.yorkshireCDbooks.co.uk, for the photograph of this font]
